The purpose of the Women In the Church (WIC) is that every woman knows Christ personally and is committed to extending His Kingdom in her life, home, church, community and throughout the world. WIC, organized under the Christian Education and Publications division of the Presbyterian Church in America and within the covenantal context, seeks to glorify God by equipping, training and encouraging believers to make a difference by proactively living redemptive Christian lives and making kingdom disciples in the Kingdom of God. This is accomplished by knowing the Lord, knowing and obeying the Word, knowing the world, and knowing themselves. Women are equipped and serve in the following ministries: |
Bulletin Board responsible for keeping the WIC bulletin board updated so that the church stays informed Baby Basket fills baskets with items for newborns and delivers it to the family Christian Education and Growth offers Bible studies to our “Ladies Only” classes Christmas Celebration to celebrate the birth of our Lord Christmas Decorating decorates our sanctuary and fellowship hall annually Easter Lily Project provides for the purchase and donation of Easter Lilies Elder/Deacon Dessert provides a dessert and a note of encouragement at our leaders’ meetings Encouragement Ministry provides baked goods/other items for our military and visits our shut-ins Father’s Day honors fathers through various means on Father’s Day Helping Hand works with South Strand Helping Hand Agency Hospitality Events plans and sets up special church-wide events Hospitality Meals/Dishes ministers to sick and bereaved Mercy Ministries works with Street Reach (homeless), SOS Healthcare (needy families/children), and Bethany Christian Services (unwed mothers newborns) Mother-Daughter Celebration honors mothers through a speaker, music, and food Mobile Meals delivers meals to shut-ins New Member Follow-Up assists new members to become acclimated in the church Pastor’s Appreciation Month (during Pastor’s Appreciation Month) organizes a way for the church to show appreciation to our pastors Prayer Ministry intercedes in prayer through prayer-line and Worship Services ministry PresWIC Fall Retreat coordinates registration and travel for the fall retreat PresWIC January General Meeting publicizes the event and encourages ladies to attend the meeting PresWIC Spring Retreat (if at SPCA) provides a continental breakfast and a catered lunch for approximately 160 ladies; otherwise, the event is publicized and ladies are encouraged to attend the one-day retreat at another location Spring Retreat provides a two-day retreat (Friday evening through Saturday afternoon) Sanctuary Flowers provides fresh/silk flowers for Sunday services Tablecloths manages the use and cleaning of tablecloths Titus Two provides a mentoring ministry of older women to younger women Youth Snacks provides snacks (e.g., donuts and juice) on Sunday for our youth Sunday School |
